

Eileen Ann Briese, aged 80, passed away on July 9, 2024, in San Diego, CA. Born November 25, 1943, Eileen was a cherished figure in her family and community, revered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother.
Eileen's early education was at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Brawley, CA, followed by Brawley High School. She furthered her education at San Diego State University, where she cultivated the foundation for her future endeavor as a Food Services Director at Santee School District in Santee, CA. Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional life as she volunteered with the Senior Volunteer Sheriff's Patrol and the Friends of San Diego County Library.
Her deep faith was evident in her active participation at St. Pius Xth Catholic Church in Jamul, CA, and as a former member of Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in Descanso, CA. Eileen's community and faith were pillars throughout her life.
An avid bicyclist, Eileen was a member of the San Diego Knickerbikers, sharing her passion for cycling and the outdoors with friends and fellow enthusiasts. This zest for life was paralleled by her role as the family matriarch, guiding and nurturing her family with love and wisdom.
Eileen is survived by her brother Theodore Staiger and his wife Mary, sisters Linda Walker and husband Jim, Dorothy Ochtun and husband George, Mary Ackley and husband Jim, Betty Martinez and Sandy Bitner. She was a loving stepmother to Denise and Deborah Briese and mother-in-law to Mindi and Susan Briese. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Kim, Jonathan, and Taylor Briese. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Robert Staiger, her husband, Ernest Briese, her son Joseph Briese, her brother John Staiger, and sisters Helen and Ruthie.
A Mass will be held in her honor on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 10 am at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in Descanso, CA, followed by burial services at 12:30 pm at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Pius Xth Catholic Church in Jamul CA, would honor Eileen's memory and her life of service.
