He loved his family, animals, and crafting thing with his hands. He worked as a machinist before going in the Navy which carried on throughout his life, eventually running his own machine shop until retirement in 2012. His hobbies were helping his buddies with race cars and eventually building his own dragsters, and a sprint car driven by his son Garrett. He traveled the world with his wife Joan. His life was full and he was very proud of all his grandchildren, of which he boasted, "They are all good Kids".
He is survived by his Wife Joan of Santee, Son Garrett (Erin) of Poway, Step-Daughter Sarah Farmer (Brandon) of Lakeside, Lisa Smiarowski (Adam) of San Diego, and four Grandchildren, Jacob, Connor, Shelby, and Natalia.
