Hazel Schmid passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at the age of 93.
She is lovingly remembered by her family: her daughter Linda; her sons Jim and Mark; her sister Juanita (Tince); her brother Jimmy; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her great-niece Becca; and her great-great-nephew Logan. Hazel will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, James; her brother Johnny; and her grandson Sean.
Hazel spent more than thirty years working in shoe sales at Buffum’s and later Mervyn’s. She had a warm and friendly spirit and treated every customer like a friend, something that made her well loved by both coworkers and those she helped.
She was a faithful member of Meridian Baptist Church, where she found comfort in the sermons of Pastor Slade and enjoyed spending time with the friends she made in her Sunday School class.
Hazel will be remembered for her kindness, her faith, and the love she shared with her family and community.
