

Helen was born to the late Rev. John and Hattie Guichelaar, on January 18, 1933, in Brooten, Minnesota, the first of five children. Helen graduated from South High School in Denver in 1950 and received an RN from Blodgett Hospital in 1954.
Helen married Herb Kredit on December 29, 1954, in Zeeland, Michigan. After Herb got out of the U.S. Air Force and finished college, the settled in San Diego in 1958.
Helen was employed as a nurse prior to the birth of her first child, whereupon she took up the much more difficult, yet satisfying job of a mom.
Helen was an active and long-time member of the San Diego Christian Reformed Church. After raising her kids, she took on a number of different jobs, including working in the ticket office of the San Diego Padres, doing medical records for a nursing home, and managing the office of her husband's general contracting business. Helen loved to travel, read, play the piano, cook, and spend time with her grandkids.
Helen is survived by her husband of 61 years, Herb Kredit, and by two children: Dan Kredit of Bothell, Washington and Sharon Farrington of La Mesa, California, and six grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Marge De Vries of Zeeland, MI, and is survived by brothers Herm Guichelaar of Portland, OR, Phil Guichelaar of Germantown, TN, and Sister Ruth Still of Pomona, CA
Helen's Memorial Service will be conducted at Living Faith Community Church, 6745 Amherst St., San Diego, CA 92115, on Saturday, October 1, at 11 am. Visitation will be at the El Cajon Mortuary, 684 S. Mollison Ave., El Cajon, CA 92020, on Friday, September 30, from 10 am to noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to either Mount Miguel Covenant Village Fund or to World Renew, a ministry of the Christian Reformed Church.
