After a long year with battling Atherosclerosis, Kinuyo (Kimi) Leuthe passed away at 86 years old on January 15, 2021. She was born in Onna, Okinawa, a prefecture of Japan. Kimi converted from Buddhism to Catholicism, and then married Alvin, a former Master Sergeant in the Air Force, in 1959. Alvin’s career in the Air Force took Kimi and their children to several cities around the United States, including New Jersey, Maryland, and South Carolina. After retiring from the Air Force in 1974, they settled down in Buffalo, New York to raise their children. After their three kids graduated from high school, they moved to Columbus, Ohio where Kimi worked at Riverside Methodist Hospital until her retirement. Kimi and her husband decided to move to California to live out the rest of their retirement and be closer to their sons. One of Kimi’s favorite things to do during her retirement was visit the local casinos: She was well known for playing the slot machines. During Kimi’s final years, they spent their time enjoying warm weather and time with their family. She is survived by her husband, Alvin Leuthe; their three children (Andrew, William, and Catherine); seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
