It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Fite, who left this world unexpectedly on February 16, 2025, with his loving wife and children by his side after a liver transplant necessitated by an autoimmune disease. Bob was a rock star with an energy Elvis would struggle to match. He was also a patriot with a deep admiration for the warriors who defended his beloved American flag and the freedoms it afforded him.
Growing up, Bob spent weekends in the Anza Borrego Desert with his dad, hunting for Native American artifacts. Like his father before him, life was about family. He married his high school sweetheart and soul mate, Debra “Debbie” Sladek, on December 23, 1994, and together, they raised their son, Owen, and daughter, Serena, in El Cajon, California. Bob was a man of passion and kindness, with an unapologetic zest for life. Like the warriors who defended his freedom, Bob protected his family as though his life depended on it. He couldn’t have been more proud of their accomplishments. To his wife, he was a hero and her forever love. To his son, he was a rock star and larger than life. To his daughter, he was her beloved protector and number one fan. To everyone else, he was Bob Fite, the legend who left us all too soon. Loyal to a fault, he was one of a kind.
After graduating from Valhalla High School in 1985, Bob set out to live life to its fullest. As an entrepreneur, he briefly owned the Badlands Sports Bar in Lakeside and successfully ran his family-owned business, El Cajon Shower Door and Mirror, from 1985 to the present. Beyond his successful lifelong business ventures and unrelenting work ethic, he was a motocross racer to his core. Motocross fueled his adventurous spirit, and he shared that enthusiasm with everyone lucky enough to know him.
Beyond the thrill of racing, Bob was a dedicated foodie and music lover. But more importantly, he was a devoted family man and a true friend. He found joy in bringing people together, whether through his love of cooking, entertaining, or lighting up a room with his gold-toothed smile and stylish vibe. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering support made him unforgettable to those who knew him and a pillar of strength in the hearts of his loved ones. His witty sense of humor was second to none. He was a force to be reckoned with. A Rock & Roller with a heart of gold. The best of the best!
Bob’s legacy will live on in the memories of his family and friends, who will forever cherish his laughter, kindness, and the love he gave so freely. Though he is gone, his treasured spirit will continue to ride on, full throttle with his heart wide open.
Ride in peace, Bobby. We love you, and you will always be with us.
A visitation for Robert will be held Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at El Cajon Mortuary & Cremation Service, 684 South Mollison Avenue, El Cajon, CA 92020.
