

Sandra G. Hernandez, Sandy, passed away on February 16, 2018, in La Mesa, Ca. She was born August 25, 1944 to Ernest Heck and Mary Gordon Heck, in Delano, Florida. Sandy is survived by loving husband, David Hernandez, and her grateful and adoring children, Joe and Stacy,daughter in law, Denise Baldeaux Hernandez and son in law, Matt Kaempf, one sister, Lois Schrader, and three amazing granddaughters, Nicolette, Sirena, and Evelyn, and many nieces and nephews.
Sandy lived in La Mesa for 62 years. Her elementary years she was in Clovis, California. She attended Carver Elementary for sixth grade, Horace Mann for junior high, Crawford High School, San Diego State, and San Diego Community College. She was a lifelong learner. She was an administrative assistant for Union Bank for 30 years. She wanted to be a teacher. Both of her children are teachers and fulfilled her dream.
Sandy was an active wife, mother, and friend. She always attended her kids sporting events. She even took time off to be a parent chaperone for the Helix High Cheerleaders to go to State Championships. She was an active member of Del Cerro Baptist Church in both choirs. She enjoyed traveling and has been to many places such as China, Germany, Spain, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Palm Springs, and San Francisco. She loved supporting her granddaughters by watching them compete in surfing, gymnastics, dance, and soccer.
Sandy was an avid member of 24 Fitness. She joined in 1981 and loved water aerobics, Senior Sneakers and yoga. She has many friends that will miss her dearly. She was so committed that she would go at 5:30 a.m.
Sandy was a true joy and a remarkable woman. She was kind, compassionate, and loving. She was always giving and thought of herself last. She will be missed so much for the rest of time. The family would like to thank all of our family and friends who have shown so much support, concern, and love during this most difficult of times. We love you so much.
