

Carol Jean Powell, 82 of Little Rock, formerly of El Dorado, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. She was born March 13, 1932, to Christian and Inez Hauer in Williston, ND.
She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in El Dorado, where she sang in the choir, served as moderator of Presbyterian Women and a Circle Leader. She was a member of the Athena Club of El Dorado, volunteer at SAAC Lunch, a fantastic Bridge player, and Life Master of the American Bridge League. She has been noted for decorating sugar cookies and lemon bars for Valentines, Christmas and other special occasions. She formerly worked as a travel agent for First National Bank.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Christian and Inez Hauer; husband, James B. Powell, Jr.; and grandson, James B. Powell, IV; sister, Shirley Bjorgo; and brother, Sonny Hauer.
Survivors include her three children, James B. Powell, III (Carolyn) of Monticello, Terry Peterson-Ford of Los Angeles, CA, Tony Peterson (Carole) of Blytheville, AR, brother, Charles Hauer (Penny) of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. tonight at Young’s.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors with Rev. Patrick Fleming officiating.
