

Celia Joyce McNeely, 80 of El Dorado, went to her Heavenly Home, Sunday, August 31, 2014, at her residence. She was born April 25, 1934, to Richard Lawrence and Mamie Strickland Johnson in Hampton, AR.
She graduated nursing school at Ouachita County Vo Tech in Camden as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a nurse for almost 50 years. Celia worked as an OB Nurse at Warner Brown, and Union Medical Center. She then worked at the Children’s Clinic, and as industrial nurse at ConAgra. Later she worked at AHEC and Sweet Home Nursing Home. She was a member of Cross Life Church and formerly a member of East Main Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years, Luther Ray “Bo” McNeely; and two brothers, Richard Lee and Jerry Wayne Johnson.
Survivors include her three daughters, Debra Joyce Allison of Bryant, Brenda Gail McNeely of Smackover, Vanessa Rhea Nix (Dennis) of Hampton; one son, Matthew Ray McNeely of Smackover; six grandchildren, Christi Jamerson, Cory Jacobs (Lyndsy), Kari Greene (Shun), Kristina Ables (Cody), Josh Nix, Cody McNeely; one sister, Joye Shockley (Richard) of El Dorado; one sister-in-law, Margaret McNeely of El Dorado, thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, at Young’s.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4, at Young’s Chapel with Dr. Dwain Miller, Dr. Benjy McCann, and Rev. Ricky Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
