David Franklin Childs

David was a graduate of Magnolia High School and held a BBA in Accounting from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. He proudly served his country in Vietnam. He was a Senior Technician at Chem-Tura, having worked there for 30 years. David was good with his hands and could make or fix just about anything. When not working, David throughly enjoyed fishing and hunting and took every opportunity to do so. He loved all sports and coached his sons in their early years, later, proudly watching them excel on the field. He loved to share stories, especially those of his son’s accomplishments, to anyone who had time to listen. He had a unique sense of humor and dearly loved to tell jokes and play pranks. His strong character and kind heart were demonstrated in his willingness to always help others.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar H. and Naomi McCall Childs, and brothers; Eddie and Reggie.

He leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Anita Burchfield Childs; their children, Adam Childs and his fiance, Brandy Helmer, of Charlotte, NC, Alex Childs, of Fayetteville, AR; a daughter, Kelli Childs Taylor; and grandson, Charlie of Magnolia, AR; sisters, Debra Ann (Ronnie) Sturdivant, of Mt. Holly, Madeline Harris, of Magnolia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all who will miss their Uncle Dave, dearly.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2011, at Young’s.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Young’s Chapel. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
