

Ernest Webb “Big Boy” Sutherlin, 93 of El Dorado passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home. He was born March 8, 1920, to Ennis Byron and Catherine Elizabeth Webb Sutherlin in Naborton, LA.
He moved to Norphlet at a young age. His father was the first Mayor of Norphlet. He retired from American Oil after 26 years. Ernest loved living in Arkansas, and he enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, camping and generally being in the outdoors.
Because of his love for his family, in the last few years he became interested in genealogy, especially his Native American heritage and found some of his distant relatives.
Ernest was a kind and loving man, who raised his family to love God and was a member of West Side Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death are his parents; three sisters, Erma Porter, Claire Keene, Artie Kelley; and three brothers, Dick, G.W. Sutherlin and his twin, Ennis Sutherlin.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Nina Sutherlin of El Dorado; daughter, Rebecca Lynn Barber (Richard) of Little Rock; son, David Michael Sutherlin (Glenda) of Ell Dorado; two grandsons, Heath Sutherlin, Sheldon Miller; one granddaughter, Katy Barber; one great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be terribly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Young’s Chapel with Rev. Keith Nutt officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
