

Born November 17, 1939 in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, he was the son of Charles Clifton and Ruby Rice Mercier. Mr. Mercier was a painter and had been employed at the Calion Lock and Dam. He was a member of VFW, DAV, and American Legion and was of the Baptist faith.
Preceding him in death along with his parents were a son, Frank Wayne Mercier, Jr., a grandson, Ryan Osgood, brothers, Joseph Mercier and George Clifton Mercier and sisters, Marjordine Humphreys, Lucy Lee Mercier, Rita Nell Jennings and Bonnie Jean Crow.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mary Beth Miller Mercier; sons, George Anthony Byrnside of El Dorado, John Hansford Byrnside of Calion, Jason Scott Mercier of Baton Rouge, LA, Willie Robert Spitzler of El Dorado, and Michael Travis Mercier of Bay St. Louis, MS along with daughters, Kym Lang of Korea, Eliska Maria Welch of Spearsville, LA, Vanessa Louise Curry, Jammie Beth Johnson, Marsha Lee Sowyers all of El Dorado, Lucy Darlene Haverlock of Nashville, TN and Crystal Lynn Smith of Poplarville, MS. Also surviving is one sister, Helen Dier of McComb, MS and 35 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, at Young’s Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 in Young’s Chapel with Rev. Daniel Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
