

George John "Johnny" Schultz III passed on to be with our faithful Lord and Savior on Monday, November 30th, 2015 at the age of 84. Johnny was the beloved, best friend, dance partner and loving husband of Floyce Pearl Schultz whom he had shared his life with for 45 years prior to her passing in 2008. Johnny and Floyce were residents of Shreveport, LA; however, they formerly shared their lives together on Lake D'Arbonne in Farmerville, LA and their early years in El Dorado, AR.
Johnny was born January 3rd, 1931 in the small, rural farming community of Russell, AR and was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Sarah Ellie Schultz and George John Schultz; two brothers, Billy Ray and James Lawrence Schultz; and his close friend and sister-in-law, Aline P. Cox of Shreveport who passed away earlier this year.
Johnny leaves behind, for a time, his half-brother, Ralph Lawrence “Bo” Schultz and his wife, Katherine of Fieldon, IL and a sister-in-law, Jewel Carolyn Nicholson of Strong, AR. Johnny and Floyce had five loving children, Deborah Lynn Schultz of Shreveport, LA, Johnny L. Schultz (CAPT USN Ret) and his wife Evelyn (DPCS USN Ret) of Farmerville, LA, Syble J. Smith of Little Rock, AR, LaWanarose Harmon of Stephens, AR, and Ernest L. Smith, Jr. of Houston, TX. Johnny was “Papaw” to 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Johnny served in the U.S. Navy aboard Aircraft Carriers during the Korean War and after completing military service joined the United States Postal Service in El Dorado where he worked until his retirement. After moving to Shreveport, Johnny and Floyce joined Parkview Baptist Church and later Johnny attended Haynes Avenue Baptist Church. Johnny was a Freemason for 65 years and life member of the Union Fraternal Lodge #53 in Farmerville, LA, a 32nd degree Mason of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Shreveport, Orient of Louisiana and a Shriner in the El Karubah Shrine Temple of Shreveport, LA.
Visitation will be held at Young’s Funeral Home, 508 Champagnolle, El Dorado, AR, from 10:00 until 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 5th followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 p.m. in the Young’s Chapel. Dr. Mike Anderson, Pastor of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church of Shreveport will officiate. Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery in El Dorado, AR, tentatively scheduled for 3 p.m. following the Celebration of Life service. Pallbearers will be Johnny’s Grandsons, Michael Wayne Dowty, Loren Allen Smith, William Russell Norris Jr., Timothy Todd Dowty, Johnny Lawrence Schultz Jr., Jared Matthew Grafton and Matthew James Schultz.
