Jerry Wade Mitchell

Jerry W. Mitchell, 71, of El Dorado, passed away Friday, September 5, 2014, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. He was born August 17, 1943, to John Thomas Mitchell, Sr. and Virginia Dare Maples Mitchell in El Dorado, AR.

He retired as Captain of the El Dorado Fire Department after 20 years, and he was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death are his parents; and daughter, Susie Mitchell Purtle.

Survivors include his daughter, Sherrie Sweeney and husband Gary of Parkers Chapel; a brother, Johnnie Mitchell of El Dorado; two sisters, Diann Mitchell Lowery of Hot Springs, Sharron Mitchell Watkins of El Dorado; and four grandchildren, Garrett Morgan of Little Rock, Cassie Sweeney of North Little Rock, Kyle Sweeney of El Dorado, and Madison Purtle of Fayetteville, AR.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014, at Young’s Chapel.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Young’s Chapel with Rev. Bob Inmon officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Serving as pallbearers are Garrett Morgan, Kyle Sweeney, Tanner Rogers, Danny Mitchell, Mark Lowery, Scott Griffith, Dammon McGilton, and Bill Mark Graves. Honorary pallbearers will be members and retirees of the El Dorado Fire Department.
