Jimmie was born in 1932 in Edith TX, the youngest of 4 daughters of Jesse Austin Burgess and Vinnie Meek Burgess. After Vinnie died in 1934, Jesse Burgess worked hard to provide for his daughters, eventually moving the family about 1938 to El Dorado AR, to be close to his brothers and sisters, who helped raise his girls.
Jimmie graduated from El Dorado High School in 1948 at the age of 16 and went to work at Midwest Dairy as a bookkeeper. She started work at Lion Oil Company at 18 (the minimum hiring age) in the mail room, then as a secretary in the marketing division where she met her husband Charles Frank Sinclair. They married in 1952, started a family, and soon embarked on a series of moves as Charles found a successful career with Sears Roebuck and Co. The Sinclairs lived in Memphis TN, Montgomery AL, Meridian MS, Ft. Walton Beach FL, Columbus GA, Richmond VA, and Orlando FL before Charles retired in 1988. After her youngest daughter started middle school, Jimmie began a career with the Department of Justice and Crime Prevention in Richmond and then with ComBank and Universal Studios in Orlando. Jimmie and Charles retired to Williamsburg VA, and then moved to McKinney TX in 1996 to be near their new granddaughter.
Jimmie was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, and a lifelong Methodist, always devoted to her family and friends. She was a skilled seamstress, knitter, and especially a quilter. Her daughters, sisters, nieces, and nephews treasure the quilts she created as well as the 1930s quilts and pillows that she rescued and restored from her mother's belongings. She loved music, animals, and travelling on numerous family vacations throughout the United States and in Europe.
Jimmie was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her beloved sisters Pauline Whiteley and Johnnie Tanner and her dear first cousin Mary Ann McCelvey.
She is survived by her sister Jessie Franks (Hope AR), her husband of 60 years Charles Sinclair (Allen TX), daughter Lynne Sinclair (Redwood City CA), daughter Leslie Wehrmann, son-in-law Mark Wehrmann, and granddaughter Madeleine Sinclair Wehrmann (Allen TX) as well as numerous nieces and nephews
