Jimmy Carlton Munford

Jimmy Munford, age 83, of New London, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 3, 2022. He was born November 2, 1938 in New London, AR, to the late Walter Byrd Munford and Vernell Turbeville Munford.

Jimmy graduated from Strong High School in 1956 and married Beth Taunton Munford, his wife of 62 years, on May 23, 1959. He worked with his Dad on pipeline construction, before working 10 years at the Milk Carton Plant in Crossett. He finished his working career at Great Lakes Chemical in El Dorado where he retired in 2000.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening and Dutch oven cooking. Jimmy was a long time member of First Baptist Church Strong.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Marti Munford Hogue; a brother-in-law, Larry Henderson; and two very special aunts, Rubye Wineman and Margaret Munford.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; one daughter, Merri and Kevin Holt; his beloved grandchildren, Daniel Hogue, Lucy Hogue (Aubrey Dopson), Kyle Holt, and Baylee Holt; great grandchildren, Michael, Colton, Maverick, and Josie; a sister, Marcie Henderson; a brother-in-law, Que and Wanda Taunton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Strong, on February 5, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Strong, on February 6, 2022 with Bro. Scotty Guillot officiating. Interment will follow at New London Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
