Johnny was born with Down Syndrome. His parents loved him dearly and were determined he would lead an active and fulfilling life. He travelled with our parents, swam, rode horses and dug for rocks with our Dad.
He liked joking (especially with his Dad) and greeting people with a big grin on his face and an even bigger handshake.
He lived for over forty years at the Human Development Centers in both Arkadelphia and Conway. While at Arkadelphia he swam, participated in Special Olympics and worked for Jordan’s convenience stores stocking shelves, cleaning and, of course, greeting people. But his true passion was donning a cowboy hat and riding horses. He participated in local horse shows and loved to show off his ribbons, trophies and belt buckles!
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Melanie, and his brother-in-law, David, of Lebanon, NJ.
Graveside services will be held in Ft Worth, TX at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery where he will be buried alongside his parents and paternal grandparents.
Words can’t express our overwhelming thanks and appreciation for the care, love, dedication and support extended to Johnny at both Conway and Arkadelphia.
Memorials may be made to either facility - Arkadelphia Human Development Center, Volunteer Council, P.O. Box 70, Arkadelphia, AR 71923 or Conway Human Development Center, Volunteer Council, 150 E. Siebenmorgen Road, Conway, AR72032.
