Kathleen Anne Clayton, 62 of El Dorado, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020 at her residence. She was born July 9, 1957 to Lieutenant Colonel William Richard (Ret) and Lois Anne Dawson in Burderop Park, RAF Upper Heyford, England.
Kathy grew up in Sherwood, Arkansas where she was a graduate of Sylvan Hills High School. She went on to the University of Arkansas where she graduated with a Bachelors degree in Education. She continued her coursework and received her Masters of Education and furthered her studies working on her Doctorate. While at the U of A she was a Little Sister of the SAE Fraternity. She was an owner of Flying Tamales Catering and Main Street Pizza. She was also a loyal and long-time member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church where she faithfully served. One of her greatest joys was to serve the church through Thursday cooking. Kathy was the first female member of the El Dorado Kiwanis Club. She was also a twenty five year volunteer for Arkansas Ducks Unlimited. Kathy’s community minded spirit and love of cooking helped nourish and support so many in the community and the state.
Kathy loved spending time with her four sons and attending every sporting event they all played. She was their biggest cheerleader. Kathy was so proud of her boys and their wives, whom she called her girls. She was overjoyed to be a grandmother. The whole family would attend almost every Razorback game where Kathy would have the best tailgate in town. She was a member of the Arkansas Razorback Road Hogs. Woo Pig Sooie!
She is preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Jessica Lynn Westerfield.
