Myra Turnage

Myra Hazel Lowe Turnage, 83, of El Dorado, passed away peacefully at home on August 20th, 2024. She was born November 23, 1940 in Ruston, LA. and raised in Minden, LA by Eldred Ford Lowe and Clara DeFreese Lowe. She was married to William “Bill” Bowden Turnage for 61 years, having never spent an anniversary apart. They would have had their 62nd anniversary August 24, 2024. Which will now be celebrated in Heaven together.

She was a graduate of Louisiana Polytechnic Institute (now Louisiana Tech University) in Ruston LA. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in El Dorado, was a member of the choir, and served on the church staff as dietician for many years.

Preceding her in death were her husband Bill; parents; daughter, Valerie Claire Tucker; son-in-law, James Todd Tucker; brother, Perry Lowe; sister-in-law, Joy Lowe; brother, Eddie Lowe; sister-in-law, Marilyn Turnage; and sister-in-law, Barbara Smith.

Survivors include her son William Paul Turnage of Fayetteville, AR, daughter Virginia Carol Whatley of El Dorado, AR, son Gregory Michael Turnage of York, PA; daughter-in-law Jerri Leigh Turnage, son-in-law Lewis Whatley daughter-in-law Heather Turnage; grandchildren William Christopher Turnage, Dominic Michael Robert Whatley, William Edmond Arthur Whatley, Sage Duncan Turnage, Jonah Minh; sister Linda Wilson and husband Eddie Wilson; sister-in-law Pam Lowe; also a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Allen Crum officiating.

Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
