

Patty Jane Kinard Garrett, 97, went to be with her heavenly Father, Friday,October 30,2020, at her home with daughter Annette at her side. She was born March 25, 1923, in El Dorado, Arkansas, the only child of Henry William (Pat) Kinard and Dolores Hill Kinard. She spent her entire life in El Dorado surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins while growing up. She was the last surviving family member of her generation.
She was preceded in death by her Loving husband of 50 years, Lawrence C. Garrett, whom she married on March 9, 1947, and her parents.
She is survived by her son Guy Garrett of Morrilton, Arkansas, her daughters Lauren Garrett McClellan and husband Walt of Reno, Nevada, and Annette Garrett of El Dorado, a granddaughter Lacy McClellan of Modesto, California, and a great granddaughter Mia Rodriguez of Reno, Nevada.
She began her work career with Lion Oil Company in the 1940s and later worked for several law firms in El Dorado as a legal secretary.
Patty enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, and daily car rides in her later years. She inherited a love of birds from her father and collected pictures, ceramics and stuffed animals representing them. She graduated with the 1940 Class of El Dorado High School where she became a member of Delta Beta Sigma sorority. In addition, she was a Union Medical Center Auxiliary Volunteer. She was the second oldest living member of the First United Methodist Church prior to her passing.
Her daughter, Annette, has devoted the last twenty years to the care of Patty as loving companion, friend, and supporter. The family is appreciative of the considerate and compassionate caregivers who have helped "Ms. Patty" throughout her last few years as she battled dementia and various other illnesses. The family would like to thank Lifetouch Hospice for their support during this sad time.
An open visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 6:00PM Monday, November 2, 2020 at Young's Funeral Directors. A graveside service will be held Tuesday 2:00 pm at Arlington Memorial Park, under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors with Rev. David Bush officiating.
