Pauline Strickland Simpson

She was born January 3, 1925 in Hampton, AR to Luther Jefferson and Agazine Julia Brumley Strickland. She graduated in 1943 from Hampton High School. Pauline married James L. Simpson, Sr. December 24, 1943 and they moved to El Dorado in 1948. She was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer three different times. She was employed with Simpson’s Garage as office manager & bookkeeper when her husband opened the business around 1959 until she retired in 1995. She enjoyed working and meeting people.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, James L. Simpson, Sr.; a daughter, Diane Graham; a grandson, Richard Craig; four brothers, Irvin, George, Cecil & Olin Strickland; two sisters, Leola Bounds & Mamie Raborn; two nieces and four nephews.

Survivors include a son, James L. Simpson, Jr. and his wife Mary Beth of El Dorado; a daughter Marilyn Warren of El Dorado; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Rob Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2016 at the funeral home.
