

A 1948 graduate of Norphlet High School, Ray attended Arkansas Tech University and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BS in Industrial Engineering, and completed his MBA at Xavier University in 1970. Ray taught market research at Miami University as an adjunct professor. He retired from Armco Steel after 30 years as supervisor of market research. Raymond served as a Deacon at Mt. Carmel Primitive Baptist Church in Bel Air, MD for many years, where Steven Bloyd was his pastor and friend. Throughout his long life Ray cherished his family and loved playing his Chet Atkins style guitar and tennis.
He is preceded in death by his parents Barney and Hazel Dumas Evers.
Raymond is survived by a daughter Linda M. Evers of Columbus, OH, two brothers Jerry (Linda) Evers of Houston,TX. and Bobby (Yvonne) Evers of Tyler, TX, along with granddaughters Katie and Shasha, a nephew Mark and nieces Karen, Kathy and Donna.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm, Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Evers officiating. Interment will follow at the church's cemetery.
Pallbearers are Mike Dumas, John Huddleston, Mark Evers, Stan Roby, Jason Cox and Bobby Love. Honorary pallbearers will be a host of friends from the Norphlet School days.
