Robert Alan Meeks

Robert Alan “Robbie” Meeks, 57 of El Dorado, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. He was born July 7, 1957, to Terrance Eugene and Patricia Ann Morgan Meeks in El Dorado, AR.

He worked for Lion Oil Company in the environmental department. Robert was a graduate of El Dorado High School and The University of Arkansas, a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, a past board member of the El Dorado Golf and Country Club, a member of Mystic Creek Golf Club, and First United Methodist Church of El Dorado.

Preceding him in death are his parents; and sister, Nancy Ellen Meeks Mitchell.

Survivors include his brother, Richard Meeks (Christa) of Ridgeland, MS; three nieces, Mary Claire and Margaret Grace Meeks of Ridgeland, MS, Teri Elizabeth Mitchell of El Dorado; one nephew, Steven Alan Mitchell (Marla) of Lake Charles, LA, great niece, Nora Grace Mitchell of Lake Charles, LA; great nephew, Nolan Mitchell of Lake Charles, LA; and aunt, Dora Hanna of El Dorado.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors with The Rev. Robert Allen officiating. A reception celebrating Robert’s life will follow at the El Dorado Golf and Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Union County Animal Protection Society, 1000 Sunset Rd., El Dorado, AR, 71730, the American Heart Association, Arkansas Regional Organ Recovery Agency, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
