
He was born March 19, 1943 in Marks, MS to Roscoe and Lillian Stanley, Sr. He attended El Dorado High School as well as earning a business degree from Southern State College in Magnolia while working at the lumber mill in Calion. He was an avid hunter and loved spending time in the woods with his family and friends. He was a member of the VFW Post# 3543 in Heber Springs. Les was a kind-hearted man who fought a hard battle with liver and kidney disease. He loved his dog Angel and spent a lot of time with his beloved companion who lay in his lap day by day. Les was a wonderful husband to Jan, always said I love you with a kiss and have a nice day at work, drive safely and I will see you when you get home.
Preceding him in death are his parents and brother Jack Stanley.
Roscoe is survived by his wife, Jan Stanley; two sons and their families, David, Melinda, Chase and Bryce Stanley of Dallas, TX; and Jeff and Grace Stanley of Greer's Ferry, AR; sisters-in-laws Nan Swint of Little Rock, AR, Beth Little of Hot Springs and Sally Smith of Gulfport, Ms.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Young's Funeral Directors in El Dorado, AR with John G. Ralston officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
