Ruth E. “Pud” McDade, 98, of El Dorado, passed away peacefully on November 27 at Timberlane Health & Rehab. Born March 19, 1927, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Loyle B. and Fay Zehner Wallis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Betty Wallis Shollmier and Mildred Wallis Lindsey; brother David Wallis; infant daughter Peggy Lynn McDade; and her beloved husband of 56 years, Charles Lee “Bud” McDade.
Pud retired after 25 years as the service department manager for Sears. She and Bud enjoyed many years of retirement at their cabin on Lake Erling, a place filled with family gatherings, laughter, and peaceful days on the water. After Bud’s passing, she returned to the workforce at several local businesses before becoming the secretary at West Side Baptist Church—her longtime church home. She faithfully served there until the age of 92, when her health began to decline.
A lifelong and avid bowler, Pud took up the sport at an early age and continued well into her 80s. A devoted Christian, she loved the Lord with all her heart. She cherished her family, her church community, and simple joys such as crocheting, cross stitching, fishing, and sharing fellowship with those she loved. Pud was a member of West Side Baptist Church for 65 years and held her church family close to her heart.
She is survived by two daughters, Kay Calcote of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Betty Cooksey of Dallas, Texas; and one son, Rick McDade (Carol) of El Dorado. She leaves behind two grandsons, Jimmy Cooksey (Rosa) of Dallas, Texas, and Charlie Cooksey (Prue) of Adelaide, South Australia; three granddaughters, Susan White (Daren) of Louisville, Kentucky, Laura Guillory (Brad) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Elise Brocato of Lake Charles; 13 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of Timberlane Health and Rehab, whose compassion, patience, and gentle care brought comfort and dignity to Pud in her final days. Their kindness—offered day after day by administration, nurses, aides, therapists, volunteers, and support staff—was a true blessing. The family also wishes to acknowledge the many friends and neighbors who faithfully visited, called, prayed, and surrounded Pud with love. Their support brought light and reassurance to both Pud and her family during challenging times.
Visitation will be at 12:00PM, Monday December 1, 2025, at Young's Chapel. Funeral will be at 1:00PM in the Chapel with the burial private at Arlington Cemetery. The funeral is entrusted by Young's Funeral Directors.
