William Harold Canterbury

William H. (Bob) Canterbury, 86, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Grace Point Healthcare where he had resided since September 2014. He was born on May 31, 1928 in Simsboro, LA to William Henry and Zelma Allison Canterbury. He was an Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. Bob retired from Michigan Chemical Corporation/Great Lakes Chemical after 40 years of service. After his retirement he enjoyed working in his yard and garden. He also loved spending time with his dear friend and companion, Carol Gilmore. His family and friends knew Bob as the guy who could fix most anything. He was a member of Union Lodge 750 and Immanuel Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and his wife Juliette Bennett Canterbury.

Survivors include three sons, Terry Canterbury (Anna), Philip Canterbury (Angela) of El Dorado, AR and Robby Canterbury (Beth) of Little Rock, AR. One sister, Benita Smith (Ralph) of Lakewood, CO. Six grandchildren, Leslie Howard (Dustin) of Little Rock, AR, Heather Canterbury of North Little Rock, AR., Caylee Canterbury of El Dorado, AR., Madison Canterbury of Fayetteville, AR, Chase Alan Canterbury and Faith Canterbury of Little Rock, AR and one great-grandson, Eli Jamison Howard. One nephew, Steve Smith of Denver, CO. Two nieces, Sue Martin of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Lisa Love of Leawood, Kansas. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Sandesh Pokharel and the healthcare team at Grace Point Healthcare and John R. Williamson Life Touch Hospice for the compassionate care that has been given to Bob.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Floyd, Hubert Jolley, Terry Martin, Jimmy McKnight, Billy Bennett and Steve Smith.

Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors with the Rev. Bill Odom officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. at Young’s.
