Aida Carlota Jáquez Waters, of El Paso, TX, departed this earthly life on Saturday, December 31st, 2022 in her home surrounded by family and friends who will forever cherish her memory. Heaven is much richer with Aida there.
Aida was born on November 4th, 1941 to María Ausencia Soto Jáquez and Ricardo Jáquez Altamirano in Durango, Mexico. She was the continuation of a long line of strong women and men who owned and worked Mexican gold mines.
Aida finished boarding school in California, and earned a business degree. As a young woman, she worked in Chihuahua and Texas. She inculcated the value of higher education to all of her family, and felt very proud of the advanced education degrees held by her son, daughter, brothers, and many other relatives.
In 1965, Aida married Hayden Braxton Waters in El Paso, TX. Aida and Hayden had two children, Madeline Belle Waters and Henry Williams Waters. Together, they operated antiques and contracting family businesses, and they devotedly raised their children into adulthood. Aida lovingly helped raise her grandchildren Morgan and Dylan to allow her daughter Madeline to pursue her professional career. For her son Henry, who loved her dearly, she was his life-long best friend. For her children, their mother was their biggest gift from God.
Through conviction, intelligence, and tireless hard-work, Aida provided for her family and helped the lives of many others along the way. Since childhood, she had an eye for beauty and elegance, and she loved to employ her resourcefulness to elevate the sophistication of every occasion. She attained excellence in her every endeavor, be it growing the family business, collecting coins and antiques, preparing her family’s recipes, accessorizing her outfits and looking flawless, and even in her crocheting and fondant cake decoration hobbies. Her witty personality and wisdom shone through even as she endured many ailments.
Aida was predeceased by her husband, her parents, and her brother José Jorge Jáquez. Aida's memory lives on with her children, her son-in-law Del Ray Hunt, and her grandchildren Daniel Winn, Dylan and Ashley Morgan Hunt, and great-grandchildren Gracie and Daniel Jr. Winn. She will be deeply missed by her brother Leodegario Jáquez, her sister María Virginia Jáquez, and all of her nieces and nephews.
She will be dearly remembered by her family and friends. The family is grateful to everyone who sent their love, blessings, and well-wishes to Aida throughout her medical challenges.
