Ale was born in El Paso, Texas on November 20, 1992. She was a graduate of Franklin High School and earned her masters’ degree from the University of Texas El Paso in Speech-Language Pathology. After graduating, she moved to Dallas, where she worked as a speech pathologist in the Dallas Independent School District. She had colorful stories about the children she worked with, which she’d tell with love and a belly laugh.
This year, Ale pursued a new career direction: to apply her expertise in communication and human behavior to the field of digital user experience and information design. She had a new job she loved.
Beyond the excitement of a new job, her 30th year was pure Ale — a celebration of all she held dear. She went to Guadalajara, Ensenada, St. Louis, New York, Austin, and Argentina (adding to her incredible list of Thailand, Spain, Singapore, Vietnam, and many more). She saw Taylor Swift (wearing chartreuse and hot pink) and Beyoncé (wearing silver) with her beloved little sister and partner in crime, Alyssa (Lyssy). She read approximately 100 books (no one could keep up). And she deepened her love of running: clocking more than 300 miles in preparation for her first half marathon and establishing herself as a lively and beloved member of the Dallas Running Club.
That is a mere snapshot: Ale’s indelible legacy for her family and friends is one of laughter, beauty, adventure, and love. She will be remembered for her terrible poker face (the expressions are legendary), her amazing fashion choices (feathers, anyone?), her beauty and incredible smile, her deep interest in others, her bravery and curiosity about the world, and her incredible rhythm. She died doing what she loved — discovering a beautiful place on Earth.
She will be most notably remembered for her devotion to her family: her deep love for her little sister Alyssa, her mother Armida, and her father Adrian.
She is survived by her parents Armida Martinez and Adrian Martinez, sister Alyssa Martinez, stepfather Ed Soltero, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She leaves behind an incredible group of best friends whom she traveled the world with. Ale will be in good company in heaven with her four grandparents, five uncles, one aunt, one cousin and her stepmother – surrounded with stories and love.
A mass will be held on December 21st at 1p.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. A celebration of life will be held on December 22nd at 12p.m. at Martin Funeral Home- West.
