

Andres (Andy) Saldana, our dear father, passed away on New Year’s Eve, December 31,2024 at the age of 100 while a patient at the Hospital of Providence East. He was born November 30,1924 in La Union, New Mexico to Juana Sierra Saldana, and Gudalupe Saldana.
Andres was preceded in death by his late wife, and love of his life of 60 years, Ernestina Saldana, and his brother Gonzalo Saldana. He is survived by daughters, Isela Meraz, and Irma S. Castro, son Michael Saldana, and son-in-law Daniel Castro. Grandchildren include Christina Hernandez, Ruben Meraz, Jr., Angela J. Meraz, Danny A. Castro, David I. Castro, and Matthew A. Castro. He was also a proud great-grandfather of Delilah, Amelia, Myles, Ariel, Jordan, Iris, Daisy, Charlie, Aaron, Christian, and David Jr. He is also survived by nieces Georgina, Mary Lou, nephews Diego, Jesus, and David, as well as extended Sierra family from California.
Andres retired from the City of El Paso, where he ended his work career in 1986 after 21 years at the El Paso International Airport. He was a member of the St. Raphael Catholic Church and the Eastside Senior Center where they came together to celebrate his 100th birthday. He enjoyed being outside and took pride in his home and garden where he spent as much time as the weather allowed.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 09, 2025, at Martin Funeral Home East, 1460 George Dieter.
Visitation is from 3:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 08, 2025, with the rosary starting at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
The family wishes to thank the Hospitals of Providence East, for the care he received during his last hours and to his extended family and staff at the Eastside Senior Center where he has a multitude of friends.
