

Armida (Armi) De La Rosa passed away on February 20, 2024 after a valiant fight against cancer. Armida was born in El Paso, TX on October 2, 1957. She graduated from Riverside High School in 1975, went on to have an illustrious career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and retired from the Bureau in 2013. Armida was loved by all, devoted to God, her Catholic faith, and enjoyed sharing all her knowledge with others. She was a parishioner at San Antonio de Padua in El Paso & St. Thomas More in Las Vegas and served in various ministries, including adult confirmation, was a member of MOMS (Ministry of Mothers Sharing) and an ACTS sister in El Paso.
Armida enjoyed prayer, travel, learning, reading, listening to music, bowling, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved her faithful and loyal companion Sonny McSonners the Beagle. She will be forever missed. Preceded in death by her father Alfonso De La Rosa, Sr., and Dolores (Lola) De La Rosa. She leaves behind her son Albert Hernandez, his loving partner, Lorna, daughter Angelica Buttel, her husband Dino, and her grandchildren Isabel, Abraham, Maoputasi, David, Vaifale, Ava, Nathen, Abigail, her mother Cruz De La Rosa, brother Alfonso De La Rosa Jr. (Yolonda), sisters Margie Jones (Roy), Lori Martinez (Fred), and her many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one great-grandniece. Armida also leaves behind many beloved extended family and friends.
A visitation for Armida will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home East, 1460 George Dieter Drive, El Paso, TX 79936 with a vigil service from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, 12200 Vista Del Sol Dr, El Paso, TX 79936 followed by a graveside service from 11:15 AM to 11:45 AM at Mt Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79907.
