

Barbara Hunter Simon passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010. She is survived by her loving husband of twenty-two years, Ronald Simon. Other survivors are her son, Charles Hoyt Burris and his wife Kay, and grandsons Stephen and David Burris, of Norman, OK; daughter, Rachel and husband Stephen Graber and granddaughters, Donna and Stephanie of Baton Rogue, LA; and son, John Simon wife, Brandy and grandsons, Corbin and Evan of Freedom, IN. Barbara was born to Charles and Vernie Hunter in Girard, Texas March 23, 1941. The Family moved to Midland where she grew up and attended school. In 1958 she moved to El Paso. She retired from Texas Employment Commission and established two businesses. She joined Assistance League of El Paso after retirement and served the organization as Assistant Treasurer (1998-1999), Treasurer (2000-2001) and President (2003-2005). She also provided many hours of service as a volunteer at Operation School Bell. In 2004 she was presented with the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award for Assistance League’s work. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Martin Funeral Home West.
