With both heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a long, full life, we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Bertha Beles, who passed away in El Paso, Texas, at the age of 93.
Bertha was born on September 10, 1932, in Tucson, Arizona, to Jose and Elisa Carrillo. She was truly one of a kind—a firecracker until the very end. Feisty, incredibly sharp, and effortlessly funny, she filled every room with energy and laughter. Her quick wit and strong spirit never faded, reminding all who knew her how to live boldly and with joy. Above all, she was strong in her faith in God, which guided her life and gave her strength through every season.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Miguel Beles; her parents, Jose and Elisa Carrillo; her brothers Gilberto Carrillo, Jose Carrillo Jr., Ismael Carrillo, and Manuel Carrillo; and her sisters Amelia De La Cruz and Esther Valenzuela.
Bertha is survived by her children Ricardo Carrillo (Delia), Gloria Beles-Almeida, Maggie Beles, Esther Najera (Carlos), and Michael Beles; her granddaughter Marissa Almeida (Joe); her great-grandson Joey Torres; and her extended family—Pio, Blondie, Mitchie, and Anita.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her dedicated medical team, Dr. Alfonso Chavez, Dr. Jeffrey Spier, and Dr. Suresh Antony, as well as Dr. Juan Fernandez, Selene and the rest of the compassionate staff at Urgent Care Hospice. An extra-special thank you goes to Bertha’s devoted caretakers—Laura, Fabiola, Ana, Ester, and Gracie—whose kindness and support meant so much to her and to our family.
For 93 remarkable years, Bertha created a life rich in love, resilience, and unforgettable moments. Though she will be deeply missed, her spark lives on in our laughter, our strength, and the many stories we will continue to share in her honor.
Forever loved, forever remembered.
