

Carlos David Beltran,73 of El Paso, Texas and affectionately known by friends and family as David passed away on June 8, 2025 surrounded by his cherished family members. He was born on December 20, 1951 to Manuel and Aurora Beltran in El Paso and shared his home with his five siblings which cultivated a spirit of generosity and humor that touched everyone around him. A proud graduate of Ysleta High School, David carried the lessons of unity and service learned there throughout his life.
In 1987 David married his soulmate, Rebecca and together they nurtured a beautiful family raising two daughters, Erica and Desiree. Family was his greatest pride and joy, and his love for Rebecca was boundless. His family will forever remember his ability to make everyone feel at home and to illuminate a room often leaving them bursting into fits of laughter from his infectious sense of humor and quick wit. David’s passions extended to cars and music. He found great joy in the intricate mechanisms of automobiles and often spent his time reveling in the harmonious melodies of his favorite artists. Whether it was the rhythm of engines or the rhythm of guitar strings, he brought the same zeal and passion to all his pursuits.
Dedicating himself to the community he loved and cherished, he joined the City of El Paso Fire Department in 1976 where he rose to the ranks of Lieutenant. He spent the last 10 years of his career as a Logistics Officer where he was instrumental in ensuring that the department’s equipment was state-of-the art and was maintained in exemplary standing. David retired in 2006 leaving a lasting impact on his community. Lt. Beltran’s devotion to his duty is still felt by many along with his reputation as a fixture in the safety and well-being of El Paso residents.
David is survived by his beloved wife Rebecca, his daughters Erica O’Connor (husband James) and Desiree Ornelas. Grandchildren, Sydney and Avery of Erie Colorado, Xavier and Hailey of El Paso, brothers Oscar, Mark,(wife Kandy) and Steve and sister Yolanda and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Aurora Beltran.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.” David’s presence will forever remain a guiding force in the hearts of those who knew him.
A visitation for Carlos will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Martin Funeral Home East, 1460 George Dieter Drive, El Paso, TX 79936.
