Consuelo Zamora

Our beloved mother Consuelo R. Zamora, 91 passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 12th in Texas City, Texas of natural causes. She was born in Los Angeles, CA on February 6, 1925 daughter of Jesus, and Anita Ramirez. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Jesus G. Zamora. She is survived by her children Jesus A. Zamora (Mary Zamora), Eduardo R. Zamora, Rodolfo Zamora (Pat Zamora), Jimmy Zamora (Oralia Zamora), Irma Zamora Bird (Roger Bird), Connie Zamora Castillo (Pedro Castillo), Marta Zamora, and Edward Perez. Sisters: Frances Contreras, Carmen Marmolejo, and Maria Maldonado, 22 Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and many friends. She played for Las Adelitas in Chihuahua, Mexico, a female basketball team in the 1930's, and also played professionally in Juarez/El Paso. She was by far the strongest, the most loving, caring, and most fierce woman. If you spent any time at our house or with our family then we're glad you got to meet her, she defined our family. Pallbearers are: Eric Zamora, Carlos Fierro, Benjamin Zamora, Santiago Zamora Jr, Tom Bird, and Del Perez. Honorary Pallbearer: Matthew Zamora Martinez.Our Mamacita and Papo are now together forever. Visitation: July 18, 2016 from 5:00-9:00pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina with a Rosary at 6:00pm. Mass: July 19, 2016 at 10:00am at San Antonio de Padua, 503 Hunter with Interment to follow at Evergreen East, 12400 Montana.
