Cristy Vera, age 75, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021, in the comfort of her home with her family by her side. She was born on November 10, 1945, in Chihuahua, Chihuahua to Ramona and Enrique Holguin.
She was a registered LVN for 35 years. She was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was a Eucharistic Minister, taught confirmation classes, and participated in the Ministry of Catholic Evangelisation.
A comedian at heart, Cristy will always be remembered for her random jokes, infectious laugh, and energetic spirit. She was an outgoing and theatrical person. She was the life of the party wherever she went. She had a passion for painting and drawing; her paintings we admired by her family and friends. She was an avid music lover and practiced piano and guitar. She was known her loving nature, positivity, compassion, and kindness. She welcomed everyone she met as if they were a member of her family. She battled many illnesses but was always very optimistic. She was, until the very end, a fighter.
She is survived by her husband Carlos Vera; her daughter Veronica Romero and her husband Enrique Romero; 4 grandchildren, Charles Vera and wife Tiffany Vera, Dae Romero, Erika Romero, and Veronica Linda Romero and husband Juan Romero; 7 great grandchildren, Charles Vera Jr., Henry Romero, Isabelle Vera, Mateo Romero, Samuel Vera, Linda Romero, and James Vera.
The funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 11:30 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (2709 Alabama St, El Paso, TX 79930) with interment at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery (5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906). The viewing/visitation will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Hillcrest Funeral Home (1060 N Carolina Dr, El Paso, TX 79915) from 5:00-9:00 pm with the rosary being at 7:00-8:00 pm. The rosary will be broadcasted live on the Hillcrest Funeral Home Facebook page starting at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 (https://www.facebook.com/HillcrestElPaso/ ).
