Cristina was born on January 5, 1951, in El Paso, Texas, to Salvador and Isabela. She was incredibly proud of growing up in El Pujido and often spoke fondly of the friendships she formed there—friendships she treasured throughout her life. She attended Bowie High School and worked for many years as a seamstress.
On July 2, 1987, Cristina married Charles James. Shortly after their marriage, they were stationed in Germany for four years, an experience that became a meaningful chapter in their life together.
Cristina was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and the most wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her beautiful smile, and her delicious chilaquiles and tortillas—made with love and always shared. She found her greatest joy in being surrounded by those she loved. Throughout her life, she faced many health challenges with strength and grace.
Cristina was preceded in death by her father, Salvador; her mother, Isabela; her sister, Eva Sierra; her brother, Raul “Magoo” Sierra; and her daughter, Veronica Edwards.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Charles James; her daughters, Yvonne Sierra, Antoinette Knerl, and Joanna Biggers; her sons, Michael Edwards and Chico Sierra; and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she believed added both joy and years to her life.
Cristina lived a full and honest life—one rooted in love, resilience, and deep family bonds. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 5pm to 9pm with a 7pm Memorial Service, at Funeraria Del Angel Restlawn, 8817 Dyer St. El Paso, TX 79904.
