

He was born on November 8th, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the second child of Mr. Robert K. Louden and Mrs. Anne Zimmerman. He lived in Saratoga, California during his youth and later moved to El Paso, Texas after finishing his PhD.
Bruce obtained his PhD from The University of California in Berkley, graduated with a Doctorate in Comparative Literature, a degree of Doctor in Philosophy and taught at The University if Texas in El Paso for the last 27 years.
In 2009, Bruce met Antonia Jimenez and they got married in July 2010, and later welcomed their daughter MaryAnne Louden. Last year Bruce and Antonia celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary.
Bruce was very passionate about music and writing. He devoted many hours to write many contributions with different articles and published many books; he was internationally known as a Homer scholar, and having the opportunity to be invited to multiple International conferences to present his work. He was a well respected scholar Professor, colleague and very supportive of the Liberal Arts Program.
Bruce was a great human being, showing always interest of understanding different cultures, people and Languages. He believed a person can make a difference in the community and everyone should be treated with respect and fairness to have the opportunity to succeed in life.
Bruce, thank you for being part of our lives. We are all going to miss you.
