Dave started working hard at a young age, with many jobs, including grocery store helper, window washer, lineman and salesperson. After graduating high school, he joined the Army for 3 years. In 1960, he joined the Department of Public Safety as a highway patrolman. From there, he then worked for Border Patrol, Customs, and DEA. He had a storied career in law enforcement, even working under the Carter administration while living in Washington DC. He retired after working for 14 years as the Senior Customs Representative for the El Paso Intelligence Center. He was also a proud member of the El Paso Sheriff's Posse, a Mason and a Shriner.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Kelly, daughters Resa Young and January Simmons (Brandon), grandchildren Ryan Young, Connor Grant, William Grant, Jeslyn Simmons, as well as many extended family and friends. And of course, his loyal sidekick Frisco (dog).
Special thanks to the hospital staff and nurses throughout the years who have helped care for Pops. We appreciate your kindness and compassion.
Rest easy, Pops. We will always carry you in our hearts. We love you too much.
