Delma Ruth Cole Brewster

Ruth Cole Brewster was born on August 15, 1919 and went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 22, 2012. She passed quietly in her home with her beloved husband Thomas (Tab) Brewster by her side. Ruth was a long time resident of El Paso, Texas. Her son Lynn Franklin and great grandson Hayden Adams preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Adams of Fort Stockton, Texas and Patricia Paul of San Diego, California. She has six grandchildren Elaine Pollard, Ben Paul, Martin Adams, David Paul, Quincy Newsom and Sarah Spofford, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Ruth grew up on a ranch in Hope, New Mexico with early childhood Christian values and a loving family. In 1938 moved to El Paso and graduated from Hotel Dieu Nursing School. She was an active member of Trinity First United Methodist Church, Mary Circle, and the Mizpah class. For many years she chose family over career where she was involved in her church and activities for her children. Later in her life, she worked at El Paso Federal Savings and Loan and had a successful career as a real estate agent. She was active in volunteer organizations such as the El Paso Women’s Club and president of Soroptimist focusing on fund raising for cleft palate surgery. Ruth was a positive and inspiring influence in the lives of her children, friends and community. Ruth was a special friend who had a certain way of adding something lovely to most every kind of day. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known and loved her. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Martin Funeral Home West. A celebration of life will be held for Ruth on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 2:00PM at Trinity First United Methodist Church, with Pastor John Schwarting officiating.
