Effy,

It's been over a year since you left. Sometimes I still can't believe that I'll never be able to see or hug you again in this life. I should have visited you in the hospital. I should have told you my goodbyes then. I knew you were leaving. I didn't want to process it. I cried rivers for you. You had such a positive impact on my life. You brought me out of my shell and because of you I am able to open up to new possibilities and new people. You were so awesome.

Effy... What can I say? I miss you. I love you. It's hard to put my feelings into words. I am so glad I had the pleasure of meeting you & your family. You & your family made me feel like I was part, like I belonged when I didn't any where else. I remember I meet you in speech class. I remember the silly things we would say to each other making each other laugh. "Panoramic pumpkins", "Show me potato salad", & "Goulet"!! are some of the silly things we would say to each other making one other smile or laugh out loud. I remember hanging out at your house till 5am playing super smash bros. I remember the trip to Coachella. I remember the way you laughed, so unique. I remember the first time I heard drum n bass was because of you, till this day it's my favorite type of music. I have so many memories of you. You were so kind, funny, loving, & so much more. I still can't get over the fact that you are no longer here. I keep thinking I'll see you soon at some social gathering and once again we can share a laugh and dance the night away. You were such a good person in so many ways. You really did make a difference in people's lives. I can just imagine you hanging out with God & Jesus cracking jokes with them about us and the stupid thing we are doing now. I will miss you greatly my friend. Till we see each other again, I love you very much.

I use to hug you until I cried, and I think I did that because I thought you would be missing me one day. I never thought the tables would turn like this. 
I visited you twice in the hospital. The first time I left, I gave you a kiss on the forehead. Yet the second time I left, you pulled together the strength to grab my head and kiss me on the forehead. I savor that moment so much.
This whole life thing is basically a big game, but your screen didn't say "game over", you finished your game and you are celebrating your greatest moments. Everybody that showed up to your rosary made your game fun, so we are your credits.
I love you man, and that love will never fade. 
You made every single day happier. You helped me live.

Effy was one of the most loving and caring people I've ever known. We did not see eachother often in the last handful of years but, when we did, it was always enthusiastic hugs, endless smiles, and mutually genuine enquiries of well-being. Effy was such a kind and wonderful peson who never failed to bring a smile to my face.  I remember so many wonderful moments with him, from eating Chico's, to watching him learning how to juggle, to just watching Full House with him. The world has lost a wonderful soul, but I am going to strive to remember and honor his memory by finding ways to make others smile and brighten their worlds as Effy brightened mine.
