

Preceded in death by parents Thelmo and Maria Villanueva, siblings, Ernesto, Guillermo, Clemencia, and Antonio Villanueva and husband Frank Marez. She outlived many friends, neighbors, compadres, and comadres whom she missed dearly. Vira graduated from Bowie High School in 1951 where she excelled in tennis. She loved to travel, was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and casinos. Throughout the years she loved her various pets, enjoyed maintaining her yard, and joining bowling leagues. In recent years her passion was playing Wordle. She is survived by her daughters Rosalie and Melody, sisters in law Santiaga Villanueva, Josefina Martinez and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass will be held on December 11, 2025 at Little Flower Catholic Church at 12:00 pm followed by burial at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Reception will follow at Little Flower Catholic Church to share your favorite memories and remember her infectious laugh.
