On Friday, June 3, 2022, Emma D. Gonzalez, beloved mother of six and grandmother of nine, went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 93. Emma was born on September 25, 1928, in Buenos Aires, Mexico to Vidal and Ana Dominguez. After residing in and around Ojinaga, Mexico, Emma came to this country in 1952 and lived in El Paso the rest of her life. There she met the love of her life, Guillermo (Willie) Gonzalez. They were married in 1960 and were happily married for 48 years until his death in 2008. Together they raised four daughters and a son.
Emma had three passions she enjoyed throughout her life. Her first was cooking and she was a wonderful cook. From fried chicken, to galletas, chile colorado, carnita de crunch and of course her famous ‘quequis de fruta’ that she made during the Christmas season, Emma cooked to please every palate. Emma poured her love into every plate of food she made for her family, friends, and neighbors. Emma was a gardening enthusiast. Coming from a farming family, Emma grew countless fruit trees, peppers and flowers. At times she raised chickens and pigeons in the backyard. Emma also loved to crochet. For years, Emma created beautiful blankets, shawls and more blankets for her children and grandchildren to enjoy. More than anything her faith in God was immeasurable. Emma cared for her family with immeasurable love and kindness.
Preceded in death by her husband, Guillermo (Willie) Gonzalez, son Guillermo Gonzalez Jr., parents Vidal and Ana Dominguez. Siblings Elfida Galindo, Manuel Dominguez, and Jose Dominguez.
Emma is survived by her four daughters, Norma Mendez (Roy), Irasema Gonzalez (Florencio ), Angelica Guerra and Anna Davila (Enrique Sr.), and one son, Alexander Guzman (Rosanna).
Emma is also survived by her grandchildren, Luis Tinoco, Norma Tinoco, Stephen Guerra, George Waterous, Henry Davila Jr., Anahis Guzman, Isabella Guzman, Alejandrina Guzman, and Sarahi Guzman. In addition, Emma is survived by her brother, Gilberto Dominguez and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
