Emma K. Yee

Visitation will be held at Crestview Funeral Home, 1462 N. Zaragoza Rd., El Paso, Texas on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Raphael Catholic Parish, 2301 Zanzibar, El Paso, Texas on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00am with Rev. Allan Oluoch Alaka officiating.

Emma was born to Guillermo and Josefina Kong in Chihuahua, Mexico on April 3, 1930. She was born into a great, hard-working Chinese-immigrant family that founded her strong character, work ethic, Catholic faith, and polarizing family values. She worked in the family businesses including La Suiza and Embotelladora Kong. Emma fell in love and married an equal in Martin Locy Yee on January 23, 1960. They were married 57 years and had 5 children. She was a devoted mother, wife, and business partner at El Tampico, Alexander’s Grocery and Custom Cleaners. Emma loved cooking, sewing, knitting, gardening, playing slot games but most of all she loved her family more than anything.

Emma is preceded in death by her daughter, Susie, who undoubtedly welcomed her into heaven with the warm hug they both longed for. Emma is survived by her husband Martin; children Emma (Sergio Villa), Martha, Lully (Robert Concha), and Martin Jr. (Mary Beth); 9 Grandchildren, Alex (Suzy), Michael, Sergio, Giovanni, Liliana, Gabi, Gian, Giuliana, Ethan; 1 Great Grandson, Cristian; and many family, friends and colleagues.

Emma bared her soul daily and showed us how to live every day regardless of circumstance. Emma was incredibly strong willed and despite her many ailments, never complained.

The family of Emma Yee wish to thank Dr. Raudales, Dr. Lozano, Dr. Diaz-Luna and their staff and the many doctors, nurses and staff at Providence Memorial Hospital, Las Palmas Hospital, Highland Rehab, Nazareth Living Care, and Quantum Home Health.
