Esteban was born December 19, 1929, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Juan and Piedad Saldaña.
He settled in El Paso, Texas after moving from Monterrey, Mexico. He then moved to Sunland Park, New Mexico in 1964. He worked for Peyton Packing Company as a Butcher and Meat cutter where he retired after 25 years of employment.
Throughout his life he and his kids (boys) worked in various jobs outside Peyton. They picked onions, sold cardboard, and did the community sanitation for Sunland Park for many years. Esteban was one of the founding fathers of San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. He was also greatly involved with his wife Anita, in the “Movimiento Familiar Cristiano” throughout the diocese. He was instrumental in establishing the Blessed Sacrament Chapel in San Martin de Porres. He was a man of great devotion and lead a Christian life. He was a true disciple of Jesus. He paved the path for many to have a relationship with God Almighty.
He is preceded by death by his parents, several brothers, and sisters, by his beloved wife Anita of 57 years and his son Pascual.
He is survived by his sons, Rafael and wife Leonor, Dario and his wife Kathy, former spouse Rene, his daughter in law, Martha Saldaña, daughters, Martha Luna and husband Jose, Manuela Huerta and husband Juan and Dolores Caviness and husband Eric. His pride and joy, 16 grand children and 22 great grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed. One of his granddaughters, Melissa Seelye wrote: I looked at the sunrise above the clouds and I pictured my sweet grandfather walking towards my grandmother in heaven, holding hands walking towards our Lord, Jesus Christ, finally home.
