Fernando "Fernie" Urquidi

FERNANDO “FERNIE” URQUIDI passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the age of 44. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Lakers fan. He was also a great supporter of youth football programs throughout the city of El Paso and surrounding areas. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Elvira Rivas, paternal grandmother Elodia Urquidi, his grandfather Pomposo “Pinky” Urquidi, and father-in-law Jose Anaya Sr. He is survived by his wife Martha Urquidi, sons; Tomas, Fernando Jr. and Roberto Urquidi, his father Jose Luis Urquidi Sr., mother Alicia Urquidi, sisters; Veronica Urquidi, Sylvia, Morima, Diana and Sandra, his brothers; Armando Urquidi, Jose Luis Urquidi Jr., mother-in-law Martha Anaya and grandfather Tomas Rivas. He is also survived by many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, with a Rosary at 7:00pm at Martin Funeral Home West. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 400 W. Sunset. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley in Santa Teresa, NM. He had the biggest heart and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and coworkers. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N.
