Gloria Marshall, 84, a devoted mother of four and loving wife to her deceased husbands, Donald Marshall and Alfredo Vasquez Sr., passed away peacefully on the evening of June 12th, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Her final days were filled with prayer, laughter, love, forgiveness, and the peaceful presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Born on January 18, 1941, in Fabens, Texas, Gloria grew up in a large family alongside her seven siblings. She was a true entrepreneur, establishing her own business, Gloria's Thrift Shop and Bus Depot, in Fabens. She and her late husband also owned Farmers Feed and Seed.
Gloria was a passionate advocate for her community and a champion for elder rights. In the mid-1970s, she bravely ran for public office, seeking positions as County Commissioner and State Representative. Beyond her political endeavors, Gloria was an avid gardener, once cultivating over 150 rose bushes, a testament to her nurturing spirit.
Gloria is survived by her siblings: Corrine Castruita, Norinne Stitt, Annie Purcell, and Johnny Slape.
In heaven she joins her siblings: Morris Slape, David Slape, and Ruby Slape.
She also leaves behind her cherished children: Velina Gillis, Alfredo "Freddy" Vasquez Jr. and wife Lourdes Vasquez, Enrique "Ricky" Vasquez Sr. and late wife Sandra Vasquez, and Robert Vasquez Sr. and wife Becky Vasquez.
Her legacy continues through her 11 grandchildren: Antonio "Tony" Grijalva Jr., Aissa Powell, Vanessa Hernandez, Emily Vasquez, Enrique "Ricky" Vasquez Jr., Adam Vasquez, Ayanna Orona, and Robert Vasquez Jr., Nathaneal Vasquez, Benjamin Vasquez, Krystin Vasquez, along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will dearly miss her vibrant spirit and unwavering love.
