Hortencia Higinia Hernandez

Hortencia Higinia Hernandez Chavez, de 97 años, falleció en paz el 4 de julio de 2025, rodeada del amor de su familia. Nació el 11 de enero de 1928 en Pueblo Nuevo, Durango, México, y vivió entre Ciudad Juárez y El Paso, lugares que amó profundamente y llamó hogar.

Católica devota, Hortencia fue voluntaria en su iglesia local, donde formó una comunidad sólida de fe, y amistad. Su amor por Dios, su familia y sus tradiciones fueron su mayor orgullo y alegría.

Le sobreviven sus hijos: Norma Venegas (Jesús), Hortencia Carrillo (Jesús), Alicia Carrillo (Octavio), Jaime Hernández (Marycruz) y Rogelio Torrecillas. También deja numerosos nietos, bisnietos,tataranietos y muchos otros familiares que continuarán honrando su legado.

Hortencia tenía un espíritu vibrante y una pasión por la vida. Disfrutaba de las reuniones familiares, el fútbol, viajar, salir de compras, visitar restaurantes y, sobre todo, arreglarse y lucir siempre impecable. Su calidez, elegancia y presencia serán profundamente extrañadas por todos los que la conocieron.

Hortencia Higinia Hernandez Chavez, 97, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 11, 1928, in Pueblo Nuevo, Durango, Mexico, and lived between Ciudad Juárez and El Paso—places she deeply loved and called home.

A devoted Catholic, Hortencia was an active volunteer at her local church, where she built a strong com- munity of faith, friendship, and service. Her love for God, her family, and her traditions were her greatest pride and joy.

She is survived by her beloved children: Norma Venegas (Jesus), Hortencia Carrillo (Jesus), Alicia Carrillo (Octavio), Jaime Hernandez (Marycruz), and Rogelio Torrecillas. She also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and extended family who will continue to honor her legacy.

Hortencia lived life with vibrant spirit and grace. She loved family gatherings, soccer, traveling, shopping, dining out, and most of all—dressing up and looking her best. Her elegance, warmth, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A visitation for Hortencia will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Martin Funeral Home East, 1460 George Dieter Drive, El Paso, TX 79936. Following the visitation will be a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, 12200 Vista Del Sol Dr, El Paso, TX 79936.
