Hortencia M Melendez

Hortencia M. Meléndez, born August 28, 1938 in Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua went to be with the lord on May 20, 2024, at the age of 85 years old. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jose I Melendez.

She is also survived and will forever be missed by her children Arturo Morelli, Cecilia Recendez (Jaime), Alma D Trevino (Benito), Miguel Melendez (Patricia), Alfredo Melendez (Yvette). Grandchildren Vanessa, Jackie, Cristian, Rene, Aleena, Annelise, Joseph, Matthew and only great grand child Skyler.

Hortencia was known among her loved ones for being beautiful, strong and very independent woman, an amazing cook, who worked as a seamstress for Farah Factory for many years. She also enjoyed doing upholstery work with her long time friends Chayo and Ofelia Salina’s. Her greatest joy was creating delicious meals for her immediate family, friends and acquaintances and enjoyed bringing everyone together.

Hortencia will be greatly missed, but her presence will continue to be felt in the lives of all who loved her. Family and friends will meet for a visitation at Hillcrest Funeral Home East on Wednesday, May 29, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary service at 7:00 PM.

A funeral mass will be celebrated in her memory on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 11:00AM at San Antonio Catholic Church. Final resting place will be at Restlawn Cemetery on Dyer with graveside service at 12:30pm.
