James John "Jay" Martin, 67, passed away peacefully at his home on March 11, 2022. Jay was born and raised in Fabens, and was a true Wildcat. After working for Southwest Airlines in Dallas, he returned home and graduated from New Mexico State with a degree in Agricultural Sciences. He spent the remainder of his life farming in the valley, and building his tree trimming business. Jay loved to cook and could usually be found manning one of his grills or scouring one of his hundreds of cookbooks for new ideas. He was constantly spoiling his family with delicious food. Jay, alongside his wife, enjoyed serving at their church, the Abundant Living Faith Center. He never met a stranger, and Jay's favorite way to serve was as a greeter - welcoming all of his friends.
He is preceeded in death by his beloved mother, Marge. Jay is survived by his father, Monte; wife, Berty; four brothers, Pat, Todd, Cody, and Scot; three daughters, Stephanie, Sarah, and Brittney; eight grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews. He will also lovingly be remembered by his sisters and brothers in law, and their families.
A celebration of life service will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Martin Funeral Home - East located at 1460 George Dieter Dr, El Paso, TX 79936. Jay loved plants and flowers and would love to see the chapel filled with color and greenery.
