Joel was always a teacher in some capacity, from when he worked at Southwestern Bell, Best Buy, Title Max, SCI but it wasn’t until recently that he realized teaching in the classroom was his calling. He began his career as a teacher at Crockett Elementary in 2020 during the height of the Covid pandemic. Teaching via Zoom in our dining room. It wasn’t long after he started that he was voted Teacher of the Year in 2022, and in 2023, while balancing teaching 4th grade, tutoring, and drama club, he earned his Master’s degree. He was a well-respected and beloved individual and teacher who will be sorely missed. He had a passion for life and anything Disney! He had such an infectious laugh that anyone around him could not possibly contain their smiles.
Joel is leaving behind his family: wife Nidia, son Josue, daughter Natalia, mother Maria Elena, siblings Adriana, Claudia, Thelma Patricia and his many family, friends, coworkers, and students whom he cherished.
